Friday, October 4th was a momentous day in Rath NS as we said a fond farewell to our beloved Mrs Nolan, who is embarking on the next stage of her life! She has been teaching in Rath NS for 27 years and has put many pupils through her capable hands. She has spent over 18 of these years teaching infants and to quote herself, has enjoyed every minute of this time. In her going away speech she said there was always something special about the Rath pupils and she will miss us as much as we will miss her.
To mark this special occasion, but taking into account our current restrictions, we planned a little out door event for the children only. To begin with, every pupil wrote or drew a memory of their time with Mrs Nolan and these were compiled in a scrap book along with photos of her throughout the years. We presented her with this album as a surprise and also two trees, one which we planted in school to remind us of Mrs Nolan and one for her to plant at home to remember us by! We had some tasty cake from Fields and the Whooley children made a presentation on behalf of the parents association & all the parents & pupils of Rath NS. Ms Collins made a speech and the pupils sang a lovely rendition of “You are my Sunshine”. To finish off, we gave her a guard of honour up the steps as she headed off. She promised to call back and visit often though and we wish her all the very best for her retirement. Here’s to many years of good health & happiness spending time doing the things she loves with the people she loves! ❤️
