ACTIVE HOME WEEK 2020

National ‘Active SCHOOL Week’ takes place every April and is a really enjoyable part of the school year for many children.

This year, because of COVID-19, it is not possible for this to go ahead so we are asking all the pupils and their families to participate in the ‘Active HOME Week‘ challenges instead.

Below are details of the Rath N.S. Active Home Week. Get out there, get active and have fun!

The challenge is to do four activities a day which add up to 60 minutes or more. We’ll give you activity 1 every day and then the rest is up to you.

There is a challenge chart for you to fill out to record what you’ve done (you can also make your own chart) and an Active Word Cloud with loads of ideas for activities. Don’t forget that Active Home Week can be for the whole family!

The fun doesn’t stop there! There is also a ‘Run around Ireland’ Challenge (this could be one of your 4 daily activities), a family quiz and a poster/colouring competition.

Send us your quiz answers daily and at the end of the week send us your completed challenge charts, poster/colouring competition entries and quiz answers.

Sometimes all you need is a wall and a football or hurley and sliotar!

Run around Ireland Challenge: For this challenge you are encouraged to walk, jog or run to visit the landmark sights of Ireland.

1km = 1 lap – This would normally be 1 lap of the school but in these circumstances you can do 1 lap of your house, garden or somewhere else at/near home.

You can do laps on your own or add together laps done by the whole family.

How many landmark sights of Ireland can you get to? Can you get to them ALL in a week?!

There is a map to show where all the landmarks are and results table to show where you’ve been.
