Sprinting through Spring!

It may not have been the best weather so far this Spring but that certainly hasn’t slowed us down here at Rath NS!

We’ve packed so many activities and celebrated special days. There were pancakes galore for Shrove Tuesday, wonderful collaborative St Brigid’s day crosses, D.E.A.R. time, webinars and shared reading for World Book Day, a Library visit for Ireland Reads and feeling the love for Valentines and Mothers Day.

6th class enjoyed a really interesting workshop with Arran Towers of Self Help Africa as part of their study of Africa and on Poverty & Famine. A part of the workshop included recreating a village meeting in rural Africa, taking all the different view points into account, including the elders, the farmers, the hotel/safari owners and the game keepers.

The children have been very active as always. 5th & 6th are delighted to be back training for the FAI 5 a side soccer tournament. Thanks to Shane Hallihane and Stuart Musgrave for sharing their coaching expertise and giving up their time to train the pupils with Ms Collins. All classes were delighted to have Daniela back teaching Volleyball and Stuart with Tennis. Pupils also really enjoyed their GAA themed 4 week Active movement break challenge for the month of February. We don’t think things will be slowing down any time soon as we head towards the summer!

Fantastic work when 5th & 6th teamed up with the young pupils to help make Brigid’s crosses at the start of February. It’s always a highlight for the older pupils to work with the younger ones. They also made lots of extra crosses for the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Rath to honour St Bridget on February 1st.

Congratulations and well done to our pupils who represented us so well in the recent Credit Union Quiz at both u11 and u13.

Two special visitors who made an appearance in school with their owners Ferdinand & Hugo!

Thanks to Stuart and Shane for helping Ms Collins to coach our soccer teams.

Eirinn and Charlie bring a special visitor to 3rd and 4th Class!
